About moi
My name’s Jeremy. Here’s a picture of me trying desperately to not look like I’m fake-smiling:

A few things you can probably tell about me from this pic:
- My hair is ALWAYS a mess
- I don’t believe there’s ever been a photograph of me without some sort of reflection in my glasses
- I drink a ton of tea every day (in this particular shot, it’s green tea)
- Super Mario is amazing. Tell me I’m wrong. I’ll fight you.
I’m a sophomore philosophy major at University of Maryland, College Park. I’d say Go Terps!, but after watching them play football, I can’t without laughing (sorry!)
My tumblr is basically ruled by two things: Dave Matthews Band and quotes from philosophers. I honestly listen to DMB every single day. They’re perfect. Philosophy is also really important to me; it wouldn’t be my major if it wasn’t! When I’m not listening to DMB, there’s a good chance I’m reading some philosopher.
What do I believe? Philosophically, I’m basically an existentialist, or, more precisely, an absurdist. With a few small differences here and there, I agree with Albert Camus (I reblog quotes from him ALL THE TIME.) I also owe many of my beliefs to Sartre, Dostoevsky, Heidegger, Kierkegaard, and even a little to Nietzsche.
I generally don’t talk a lot about politics or religion or anything like that because I’ll probably just get myself into trouble, but I’ll give these two little facts:
- Religion: I’m an agnostic, mostly for philosophical reasons. I don’t think religion is inherently wrong, bad, or problematic at all (this is probably my biggest point of disagreement with Camus, by the way.)
- Politics: We Americans don’t really have a word for this (perhaps because we Americans tend to see anything left of center as Communism,) but I am what in Europe is sometimes called a Social Democrat. I generally agree with the Nordic model of a welfare state and a mixed economy.
I think I’ve gone on long enough. Just one more thing, and it’s the most important thing of all: my ask box is always open and seldom full, so I’m ready to tackle any question you could possibly throw at me. Go for it!
