Oh wow. That’s a tough one. I have to tread carefully here so I don’t get someone who knows Nietzsche more thoroughly than I do (*coughcoughin-the-midst-of-wintercough*) on my case. But there’s one major thing about him I love and one major thing I hate.
I really like his idea that history/knowledge/truth isn’t a good in itself, that it must serve life. I’m all for philosophies that give priority to life.
I don’t buy all his Will to Power stuff. My impression is that Nietzsche believes that truth itself is really a function of power - that the powerful get to interpret the world and define truth as they see fit.
But, since Nietzsche is so often misinterpreted, I’m ready for someone to bust into my ask box and tell me how wrong I am. So if you can show me that Nietzsche isn’t as awful as I think, please do. I always like to add more names to The Love List!
