What is your opinion on the philosophy of Schopenhauer?
I only have a passing familiarity with Schopenhauer, so there’s not a whole lot I can say. At first blush, it seems right to say that our desires can never be truly, once-and-for-all fulfilled, but I don’t think that means asceticism is necessarily the best path. But, as I said, I don’t know a whole lot about him. But he sounds like an interesting guy to study.
